Unpacking the Dragon Dens, Riders, and Bonding Clues
The Blue Den (Gormfaileas or “blue shadow”) hails from Corydon and is known for dragons that are warm yet ruthless.
1. Xaden Riorson & Sgaeyl (Shadow): Sgaeyl is a formidable blue daggertail who channels both shadows and inntinnsic abilities to Xaden. Sgaeyl ordered, “I not only require unflinching honesty from you, but for you to have unflinching honesty with yourself.”
2. Aaric Graycastle (Camlaen Tauri) & Molvic (Praise): Molvic is a blue clubtail granting precognition. During bonding, Molvic ominously stated, “I was drawn to the strength of your bloodline once before and found myself sorely disappointed”.
The Brown Den is drawn to runes, known to be cold, and potentially linked to Luceras.
3. Ridoc Gamlin & Aotrom (Lightweight): Aotrom is a brown swordtail who channels ice-wielding to Ridoc. Aotrom playfully joked to Ridoc by stating, “If I am five, then you are four.”
4. Garrick Tavis & Cradh (Pain): Cradh is a brown scorpiontail gifting distance and wind. Cradh told Garrick, “I know all about your interests. I know the power you’ll need to pursue them”.
The Orange Den (Fhaicorain) originates from the Northern Esben valley and is fiercely unpredictable.
5. Brennan Sorrengail & Marbh (Death): Marbh, an orange daggertail, provides mending and healing. Marbh challenged Brennan with, “You have yet to earn a first name while your last overpowers it”.
6. Imogen Cardulo & Glane (Glass): Glane is an orange daggertail who channels memory wiping and earth wielding. Glane hilariously offered, “Would you like me to fly over and slice that sexual tension for you?”.
The Red Den is associated with Dunness, limestone cliffs, and famously fiery tempers.
7. Dain Aetos & Cath (Battle): Cath is a red swordtail granting retrocognition. Cath tested Dain’s rigid nature by asking, “Do you give allegiance to the Codex while you ride the edge of Malek’s doorstep?”.
8. Sawyer Henrick & Sliseag (Chip of Wood): Sliseag, a red swordtail, channels metal wielding. Sliseag warned, “I will not attach myself to another rider who cannot adapt to loss”.
9. Sloane Mairi & Thoirt (Importance): Thoirt is a red daggertail who channels siphoning abilities to Sloane. Author Rebecca Yarros said it was her favorite to write. Thoirt heartbreakingly said, “You will never see a sunrise where I am not waiting for you.”
10. Liam Mairi & Deigh (Ice): Deigh, a red daggertail, granted farsight and ice wielding. Deigh told Liam, “I have not avoided holes in my wings and scars through my scales to be misrepresented by a slip of your knife”.
The Green Den is defined by intelligence, logic (Uaineloidsig), and a ruthless edge (Cruaidhuaine) originating from Steelridge.
11. Rhiannon Matthias & Feirge (Anger): Feirge is a green daggertail who channels summoning. Feirge stated, ““If you were not worthy, you’d be char by now.”
12. Mira Sorrengail & Teine (Fire): Teine is a green clubtail who channels wards. Teine proudly stated, “My validation is all you shall seek from now on”.
13. Bodhi Durran & Cuir (Place): Cuir is a green swordtail granting countering signets. Cuir commanded, “You seek power to end harm, instead of the means for victory”.
